Do you save lyric files on your computer in order to display songs with a projector?
When saving song lyric files on a computer you require a licence because it is considered a graphical reproduction. This applies regardless whether you use stored song files for print-outs or display songs with a projector. You can get legal coverage for storing songs (lyric and notation) through the Church Copyright Licence (CCL). This is a blanket licence for reproducing songs for churches and Christian organisations.
Please note: Your church might be paying GEMA fees already. But GEMA does NOT cover the reproduction of song words. GEMA is in charge for performance, broadcast and mechanical rights. (Please see the table below.)
